It is distributed in the tropical rainforest of Central and South America. It has great power and can lift objects 850 times its own weight, named after Hercules, the Hercules in Greek mythology.

The largest subspecies is Dynastes hercules hercules. By 2019, the largest seller of artificial breeding was 179 mm+, the limit record was 184 mm, and the failed emergence was 186 mm.

It is the largest beetle in the world and the treasure in the collection of beetles. The species name Hercules is the son of the main god Zeus in Greek mythology, and is known as Hercules.

The body length of the male (from the tip of the thoracic horn to the end of the wing sheath) is about 50 to 181 mm, and the front chest and back plate are black. The wing sheath of some species has blue to green luster. The wing sheath is dark yellow to brown, lined with irregular black spots. There are fine hairs on the surface, and the surface of the wing sheath is rougher than that of Dynastes trinidasis. The wing sheath of some individuals has blue to green luster. Male insects have specialized thoracic horn and horn, which extend forward, and there are dentate protrusions at 1/3 to 1/2 of the base of the thoracic horn. The female has no chest horn and horn.

This species is similar to (Dynastes reidi) in morphology and body color, but the antenna growth rate of the two males is not the same

It is distributed in Guadeloupe Island in Latin America (located in the middle of the Lesser Antilles, French) and Dominica (the island country of the West Indies). Its footprints have been found in Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, the Antilles, Panama, Nicaragua, Guatemala and southern Mexico. According to the local collectors, the origin of this species coincides with that of the giant puffin, but the altitude is different. Most of the species collected by the light lure after 10 o'clock every day are this species, while the Dynastes neptunus almost all in the early morning. (It can be seen that the activities of the two species of giant puffybugs may have a time difference.) This species can be seen locally in one year, mostly in the rainy season. Its related species, Euphorbia raderi, are distributed in Martinique and Saint Lucia.
